SCHUYLERVILLE, NY - Barber Brothers Dairy
recently converted their 1974 double six milking parlor into a new double 12 DeLaval GEGI parallel parlor. This was no small trick, as the Barbers are milking about 400 head around the clock! Premier employees Kevin Jablonski, Joe Perras, and Gregg Noonan headed up an installation team that took on this challenge. They went at it in a systematic way, making sure all the while that the Barbers were able to keep on operating throughout the changes.
"I am really happy at how it all turned out," Clint Barber said recently. "Although I would say that I will leave the next major change up to the next generation! This one took about all my energy!" There is no doubt that major renovation projects like this are stressful for all concerned. However, typically this type of conversion can be significantly less expensive than building an entirely new facility. "That is why we went this way," Chad Barber said. "We need to continue to grow to get where I want to be in this business, and this was a necessary step to get there."
The Barbers ship their milk to Stewarts, in nearby Saratoga Springs, NY. Part of the conversion included installing a new Mueller 4000 Gallon milk tank and Plate Cooler. Certainly these improvements should prove valuable for both the farm and the dairy processing facility. Quickly cooled, clean milk is a benefit for all of us.
Premier Dairy Service wishes to thank Clint and Chad for their support of our business. We look forward to a long lasting, and mutually profitable relationship.

are just finishing a brand new Germania Pro90 Double 20
Parallel Parlor. They just started using this facility on
February 5th.
They have converted their herd to the
Afimilk metering and ID system. They were particularly
interested in the activity monitoring system in the Afi Tags.
The Chambers have had an ID system for years, but never had
the feature of this activity monitoring. In short time, they
expect to see some positive results. [IMAGES BELOW] |
